Security shaped around the shoot

A considered plan.
Clear priorities.

A public location, a high-profile cast member and a closed set each present different security questions.

We assess the relevant threats, vulnerabilities and consequences, then help production define what protection is proportionate. That includes the people, the site, information, access and the arrangements for responding to an incident.

Our role can include developing the brief for security providers, reviewing proposals and coordinating the plan with production, location teams and venue operators.

How we can help

From personal safety
to set protection.

01

Security risk assessments

A structured view of the threats and vulnerabilities relevant to the production.

  • Production and location threat assessment
  • Cast and crew exposure
  • Prioritised protective recommendations
02

Cast safety & close protection planning

Define what personal protection is needed and how it fits into the shoot.

  • Risk-based close protection specifications
  • Movements, arrivals and departures
  • Coordination with suitably licensed protection providers
03

Set, location & unit protection

Plan access and protection around the way the production actually operates.

  • Access control and accreditation
  • Unit base, equipment and perimeter considerations
  • Public interface and out-of-hours protection briefs
04

Incident planning & preparedness

Give the team workable arrangements for recognising, escalating and responding to security concerns.

  • Roles, communications and decision-making
  • Emergency and protective response procedures
  • Briefings and proportionate exercises

Protective security & preparedness

Martyn’s Law.
Understand the context.

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known as Martyn’s Law, concerns certain qualifying premises and events. A filming location is not automatically in scope simply because a production is present.

We can help productions and venue teams understand the arrangements relevant to their activity, coordinate with those responsible for the premises and develop proportionate protective security and emergency plans.

That may include evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication arrangements, with clear roles and practical staff briefings.

Common questions

Security that fits
the brief.

Can you advise on close protection for cast?

Yes. We assess the exposure and help define the protection requirement, movement arrangements and provider brief. Operational protection should be delivered by appropriately licensed and competent personnel.

Does Martyn’s Law apply to every production?

No. Scope depends on the qualifying premises or event criteria. The venue, use, attendance, access arrangements and who controls the premises or event all need to be considered. We can help identify the relevant questions and coordinate planning with the responsible parties.

Can you review an existing security plan?

Yes. We can review a plan or provider proposal against the production’s assessed needs, identify gaps and help clarify responsibilities and operational arrangements.
